India - 2008


India has made tremendous progress in containing the poliovirus. 1600 cases have been reported in the year 2002 and 225 cases of wild polio have been confirmed in the year 2003. Only 134 cases have been reported in the year 2004 which is the lowest ever. The interesting fact about the polio scenario is that 90% of the cases are confined to the States of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The charts below tell their own story......
